History of the Inn
The Inn started as a
family farm over one hundred years ago. Lodging for hunters started in the
1920’s. Since then upgrades and changes have always focused on keeping the
original charm and authenticity. The exposed “Historic Plank Wall” in the main
dining room displays memorabilia that traces the history of our Inn. The Inn
has been so named since 1978, due to its’ proximity to Mount Sunapee and the ski
area. The original catch-phrase was “come rest your buns at the Back Side”.
Old and new friends of the Back Side enjoy sharing the memories of past visits,
and the new stories of the day’s activities, while warming by the cozy fireplace
or while enjoying our fine dining. This is a place to come home to and relax
with the warmth of New England charm.
